How we rank

Eight criteria with fixed weights. Every score has a reason you can read.

Sources
Vendor sites, pricing pages, release notes, public repositories and incident reports. Unverified claims score as unknown.
Scores
Each criterion gets 0–10 with a one-line reason. Total = Σ score × weight.
Updates
Data checked 2026-10-13. Prices change; each page shows its check date.
Bias
We favour local-first, open software. The weights say so in public; change them below.

Is the #1 an artefact of the weights?

We drew 20,000 random weightings, each weight between 50% and 150% of its default, and counted who finished first.
